Steps:
- open up the macbook pro/mac tower
- Remove some ram
- turn mac on
- Zap the Pram by holding down Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down until the computer reboots itself three times
- Shut down mac
- replace ram
- turn mac on and hold command + S until you are in single user mode (console as root)
- run this command /sbin/mount -uw /
- also run this rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
- type ‘reboot’ (no quotes) and hit enter
- The mac will boot and the welcome video will play
- You will be prompted to create an account (name the acct and alias a different name than any other acct on your machine)
- Do not transfer and settings when prompted
- complete “setup”
- You will now be logged in as your new admin
- Promote your original Standard acct to admin
- Finished
Hi there,
this doesn’t work on my macbook pro. I can’t zap the PRAM even after removing one of the 2 ram modules x 2GB.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Eddi
are you seeing the blue screen and then the auto reboot? i had an issue like this before, DO NOT hold the keys down before you power it on or just after you hit power.
hit power, wait a couple seconds, then hold down the keys
